The SmartLead Gold SD and SmartLead ProHQ SCART leads are not supplied for and should not be purchased for the following purposes:

• Remove Macrovision copy protection
• Remove Copy Generation Management System (CGMS) flags which cause DVD recorders to display an error message stating that the source is copy protected and cannot be recorded.
• Copy macrovision protected DVDs to recordable DVD
• Copy macrovision protected VHS tapes to recordable DVD
• Copy macrovision protected DVD to VHS tape
• Copy Sky Box Office broadcasts to recordable DVD and/or VHS tape

These devices are produced and sold for the purpose of connecting a DVD player to a VCR in order to transmit the video and audio signal via the RF (aerial) output for viewing on televisions with no SCART sockets. They are not designed exclusively to facilitate the circumvention of video copy protection systems. Certain video copy protection system signals have been known to interfere with some projectors, TV/VCR Combi units and TV tuner cards which work on the VCR method for capturing video input. In these cases, SmartLeads could be used to filter these signals out and correctly display copy protected video sources on equipment affected by them.
