Self-service upgrades and firmware upgrades via disc have become the multi-region upgrade of choice over the last four years. The upgrade procedure is quite straightforward and will cause no harm to the player. None of the original features for your player will be affected by the upgrade; it is completely safe. You should be aware that many manufacturers do not approve of multi-region upgrades to their equipment and so carrying out the upgrade may invalidate your warranty with them.

All our Self Service remote upgrades provide automatic selection for regions 1-6 and are compatible with region 1 RCE discs from Columbia Tristar. Please note that the upgrade will not enable your DVD player to accept 'copied' or 'pirate' discs if it cannot already do so. The upgrade does not disable Macrovision copy protection.

The custom-built chipped remote we supply you with is configured to modify the specific make of DVD or BluRay player for which it has been ordered. If you make a mistake, the remote can be used again to repeat the procedure until the upgrade is successful. You should make sure that you are familiarised with the upgrade process before inserting batteries into the remote and proceeding with the upgrade.

The DIY self-service multi-region remote is supplied on the understanding that it will not be re-sold after it has been used. You may keep the remote to use on further DVD or BluRay players of the same make which you might purchase in the future.

Please note that Self Service upgrades are only intended for use with European Region 2 DVD players. If you have an imported DVD player, for example, from the United States or the Far East, it is extremely unlikely that the upgrade will work correctly and it may even cause damage to the player.
